ANNOUNCEMENT

IPMN WORKSHOP 2000 WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND

March 9-10, 2000

Victoria University, in association with the International Public Management Network (IPMN), is pleased to announce a joint workshop on the theme: “New Zealand Public Management: Lessons Learned and Future Developments.” The Workshop host and program coordinator is Professor Rob Laking. The New Zealand Workshop follows the IPMN 2000 Conference in Sydney, Australia to be held March 4-6, hosted at Macquarie University's Graduate School of Management by Professor James Guthrie. (See IPMN Newsletter 2000 No. 1.

The Wellington Workshop will bring together New Zealand and international scholars and practitioners to engage in a dialogue typical of IPMN events, i.e., structured but with emphasis on open informal discussion. The discussion will center on the following questions: What have we learned from New Zealand’s public management experience of the last decade? What issues do these lessons raise for the future development of public management, both in New Zealand and in other countries? What should be on the agenda for further research and scholarship in public management in New Zealand? New Zealand academics and practitioners will present six papers on these questions at the workshop on March 10 at The University of Victoria, Wellington.

Registrations are welcomed—but don’t delay. Space is limited. To register, and to find out more about the Workshop, go to the following website:
