Items to be included in a full reference are: Book: Author's full last name, first and second initial as appropriate Complete title of the book Editor, compiler, or translator, if any Series, if any, and volume or number in series Edition, if not the original Number of volumes Facts of publication: city where published, publisher, date of publication Volume number, if any Page number(s) of the particular citation Examples
Article in a Periodical: Author's full last name and first and second initial as appropriate Title of the article Name of the periodical Volume (and number) of the periodical Date of the volume or issue Page number(s) of the particular citation Examples

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS Type The type should be 12 pitch letter size and Times Roman or Times font. Paper Set-Up The page setup should be set to the American style of 8 ½ by 11 inch paper with Double Spacing. Double space between all lines of the manuscript, which includes the title, headings, notes, quotations, and references, figure captions. Never use single-spacing or one-and-a-half line spacing except on tables. Margins Leave uniform margins of 1 inch" at the top, bottom, right, and left of every page. Left justify the entire document. Leave the right margin uneven. Do not hyphenate words at the end of a line; let a line run short or long rather than break a word. Type no more than 25 lines of text on a manuscript page. Headings Most manuscripts use from one to four headings. The four levels should appear as: CENTERED ALL UPPERCASE HEADING Centered Uppercase and Lowercase Heading Flush Left, Underlined, Uppercase and Lowercase Side Heading Indented, underlined, lowercase paragraph heading ending with a period' Paragraphs and Indentation Indent the first line of every paragraph and the first line of every note five spaces. Permission to Quote If your paper is accepted for publication Any direct quotation, regardless of length must be accompanied by a reference citation that includes the author, year of publication, and page number(s). If you quote at length from a copyrighted work, you will also need written permission from the, owner of the copyright. It is the author's responsibility to obtain the reprint permission. A copy of the letter of permission must accompany the manuscript. Statistical and Mathematical Conventions Type all signs and symbols directly into your manuscript using Word Formula feature. Identify any symbols that might cause confusion in the notes section of the text by spelling it out and defining it the first time that it is used. Space mathematical copy as you would space words. Align signs and symbols carefully. Type subscripts half a line below the symbol and superscripts half a line above the symbol. Display a mathematical equation by setting it off from the text by double-spacing twice above and below the equation. If the equation is identified by a number, type the number in parentheses flush against the right margin. Do not underline: (1) Greek letters, subscripts, and superscripts that function as identifiers, and (2) abbreviations that are not variables. Mark symbols for vectors with a wavy line to indicate bold typeface. Underline all other statistical symbols. PARTS OF A MANUSCRIPT Order of manuscript pages: Number all pages consecutively. Arrange the pages of the manuscript as follows: title page (page 1) abstract (page 2) text (page 3) appendices (start each on a separate page) author acknowledgment notes (start on a new page) references (start on a new page) tables (start each on a separate page) figures (start each on a separate page) This arrangement is not the way the printed paper will appear; it is necessary for handling by the copy editor and the typesetter. After the manuscript pages are arranged in the correct order, number them consecutively, beginning with the title page. Number all pages. Type the number in the upper right-hand corner using Arabic numbers. Identify each manuscript page by typing an abbreviated title above the page number. Title Page The title page includes 4 elements:
Abstract Begin the abstract on a new page. Type the word "ABSTRACT" in all uppercase letters, centered at top of page. Type the abstract itself as a single paragraph, double-spaced, indent 5 spaces from the left margin and 5 spaces from the right margin. Keep the abstract to 150 words. Text Begin the text on a new page. The sections of the text follow each other without a break. Appendices Begin each Appendix on a separate page. Type the word "APPENDIX" in all uppercase letters and identifying capital letters in the order in which they are mentioned in text, centered at the top of the page. If there is only one Appendix, it is not necessary to use an identifying letter. Author Acknowledgment This note is neither numbered nor is it mentioned in text. In all uppercase letters, type the word ACKNOWLEDGMENT" centered at top of a new page. Type the acknowledgment itself as a double-spaced single paragraph. Notes Notes that are mentioned in text are numbered consecutively throughout the chapter. Double-space the notes and begin on a separate page. Center the word "NOTES" in all uppercase letters at the top of the page. Indent the first fine of each note 5 spaces and type the notes in the order in which they are mentioned in text. Tables Tables are numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in text and are identified by the word "Table" and an Arabic numeral. Begin each table on a separate page. Type the short title of the manuscript and the page number in the upper right-hand corner of every page of a table. Tables are complicated to set in type and more expensive to publish than text. Therefore, they should be reserved for important data directly related to the content of the paper. Refer to every table and its data in text. Do not write "the table above/below" or "the table on p. 32" because the position and page number of a table cannot be determined until the text is typeset. In text, indicate the approximate placement of each table by a clear break in the text, inserting the following: TABLE I ABOUT HERE this placement direction should be set off double-spaced above and below. Do not abbreviate table headings. Limit the use of rules to horizontal rules only. Draw all rules in pencil. Figures Figures are also numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in text. Use the word "Figure" and an Arabic numeral. Indicate the location of each figure by a clear break, inserting: INSERT FIGURE I ABOUT HERE set off double-spaced above and below. All figures, charts, illustrations, and halftones are figures and must be submitted in a form suitable for reproduction by the printer without redrawing or retouching. MANUSCRIPT CHECKLIST
